The Word is Found Again

The Word is Found Again

As Ammon lay assassinated, he left behind his eight-year-old boy Josiah to be king in his place. Josiah clung to God and pleased Him in all he did. Even when he grew older, he did not abandon the God of Israel. Instead, as he grew, he got rid of the idols of the land. After the land was cleared, he turned his attention toward restoring the temple. It was in this act that he would discover The Book of The Law of God and turn the people of Judah toward their God in repentance.

2 KIngs 22:8
In our latest reading, we heard how Manasseh lived in wickedness and darkness for years, defying and angering God with his idolatry and murder. And yet when he turned back to God in true repentance, God had mercy on him and restored Manasseh to fellowship. It was a reminder of God’s desire that none should perish and His readiness to forgive when we open our hearts to Him. Today we’ll hear about King Josiah, the grandson of Manasseh, who lived as a righteous, God-fearing king. Josiah would usher in a new era of prosperity and faithfulness to God in Judah.
