Jesus, given a large wooden cross to carry, was slowly working His way up to the place of the skull. But after losing so much blood already, Jesus collapsed and was assisted by a man named Simon of Cyrene. When the rulers saw Jesus hanging there on His cross, they mocked Him and spat on Him. But Jesus prayed for them even as He was dying. After He was dead, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body and buried it in his own tomb. But death would not be the end of Jesus…

In our previous episode, we heard how Jesus went before Pilate the Roman ruler, and though no fault was found in Him, the Jews clamored for his death, insisting that Pilate send him to the cross and release a criminal named Barabbas. Jesus was beaten, humiliated, and tortured, yet he remained silent, willing to fulfill God’s purpose for Him. Today we’ll hear as Jesus goes to the cross and the final words he utters as the sin of the world bears its full weight on His shoulders.
