Jehu becomes King

Jehu becomes King

The reign of King Ahab had finally come to an end. But his son Joram was just as set on evil as he was. So God told Elisha of his plans to put an end to the line of Ahab. Then Elisha sent a prophet at once to go and anoint Jehu as king over Israel in secret. In the barracks of Ramoth Gilead, the men of Israel proclaimed Jehu as king, and at once, rode out to meet Joram and put an end to him as punishment for his crimes.

2 Kings 8:13
In the last episode, we saw how God brought famine to Israel, a consequence of their self-reliance and forgetting He was their provider. In that time God protected the Shunamite woman and her son, and after the famine he restored all she had lost. We also witnessed the murder of the Syrian king Ben-hadad, killed by his servant Hazael, who then ascended to power. He would be a cruel king and wreak havoc and devastation on Israel in the ensuing years. Today we hear how God anoints a new king to bring justice to a kingdom that had suffered greatly under King Ahab, his evil wife, and their family.
