Daniel and the Lions Den

Daniel and the Lions Den

King Darius of the Medes was now ruler in the land and he leaned heavily on the wisdom that God gave Daniel. As Daniel’s influence grew so did the jealousy of the other leaders around him. But Daniel was a righteous man and they could find nothing to accuse him of. So they conspired and made it a law that no one in the kingdom was allowed to worship anyone but Darius for 30 days. However, even the threat of being thrown into the lion’s den would not stop Daniel from praying to our God.

Daniel 6:22
In our last episode, we heard how God sent a message to King Belshazzar – a word of judgment for his pride. Because he failed to humble himself before the Lord, Babylon fell to an outside enemy and Belshazzar’s life was taken from him by King Darius the Mede. Daniel maintained a position of power and influence even in the midst of this, and God would continue to use him to make His name known to nations that did not follow the God of Israel. Today we’ll hear how Daniel served King Darius and earned his trust. Darius will listen to the counsel of wicked men seeking to get rid of Daniel. He’ll foolishly issue a decree that places Daniel in danger of death. But God’s hand of protection will be on Daniel, a powerful testimony to God’s power before an entire nation.
